Alice and Mike are the team behind the lenses of
Zhuk Photography.
Born out of a love for nature, their aim is to inspire others to care for wild things and wild places.
Influenced by artistic and photojournalistic styles, their mission is to create compelling images of the beauty found in the great outdoors.
Alice's enthusiasm for nature was sparked by a trip to the Canadian Rockies. Although she didn't own a camera at the time, the awe-inspiring mountain scenery and abundant native wildlife left a lasting impression.
However, it wasn't until years later that her first hiking trip to Yosemite ignited her drive to photograph the natural wonders of the world. After a major life event led her to reevaluate her priorities, she left her previous career to pursue her true passion full-time.
Alice's work has been published in commercial campaigns and regional publications. She is most likely to be found with a camera in one hand and a pair of binoculars in the other, lying in wait for the feathered or furred to meander by.
Mike enjoys the challenge of producing superlative adventure photography.
His motto is: the more rigorous the hike, the more satisfying the results.
In regards to wildlife imagery, he is particularly interested in highlighting an animal's personality, telling visual stories that connect the viewer to the subject.
When out in the field, he can be found lugging the majority of their camera gear.
When not out in the field, he can be found working on a camper van conversion project.
Alice and Mike are currently based in San Francisco, California.
